Steward's Report
All staff & participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of boxing, starting and catching greyhounds.
Bonnie Too Good was quick to begin. Dr. Macie and Lala Fig were slow to begin.
Mirror Illusion and Dundee Candy collided approaching the first turn. Dreamers Lie checked off the heels of Bonnie Too Good on the first turn and collided with Little Yaala, Mirror Illusion and Dundee Candy; checking Bonnie Too Good; severely checking Little Yaala, Mirror Illusion and Dundee Candy. Dr. Macie and Little Yaala collided on the second turn. Palesa Bale visably eased approaching the third turn, pulled up and failed to finish. Little Yaala checked off Mirror Illusion on the third turn.
Palesa Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Ms Rickii-Lee Church, the representative of Palesa Bale regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the third turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Palesa Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Ms Church pleaded guilty to the charge, Palesa Bale was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown Park and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
