Steward's Report
Electric Head and Black Martini were slow to begin.
Shining Ellie crossed to the outside soon after the start checking Black Martini and Moonshine Miss; Shining Ellie raced wide for the remainder of the event. Black Martini, Sprite's Back and Jackie Speedy collided approaching the 250m mark. Electric Head checked off Black Martini approaching the 150m mark. Electric Head and Jackie Speedy collided approaching the 100m mark checking Jackie Speedy. Jackie Speedy checked off Electric Head at the 100m mark severely checking Jackie Speedy and Pocket Titanium; causing Pocket Titanium to falter. Black Martini checked off Moonshine Miss approaching the 50m mark. Sprite's Back visibly eased approaching the winning post checking Dennehy, Jackie Speedy and Pocket Titanium.
Sprite's Back underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 3. No apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr John Bosnich, the trainer of Sprite's Back regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69A(1) Sprite's Back was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Bosnich pleaded guilty to the charge, Sprite's Back was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Healesville and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69A (2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
Stewards spoke to Trainer, Mr. F Hand, regarding the racing manners of Moonshine Miss approaching the winning post. After viewing all available video footage and taking into consideration the actions of Sprite's Back, Stewards issued a warning to Mr. Hand regarding the racing manners of Moonshine Miss at that point of the race.
Jackie Speedy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the right deltoid muscle. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Pocket Titanium underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 4. Pocket Titanium was found to have an injury to the left shoulder. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
