Steward's Report
Snow Angel was quick to begin.
Osprey Rose shifted out soon after the start checking Blazer Glory. Viking Junior checked off Crowdza Back approaching the first turn, colliding with Blazer Glory, Osprey Phantom, Crowdza Back, checking Blazer Glory, Osprey Phantom, severely checking Crowdza Back and Viking Junior. Viking Junior pulled up in the back straight and failed to finish.
Viking Junior underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 4, and was found to have a left calf, triangle and fibula injuries. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Paul Galea regarding its performance in this event. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Viking Junior must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted. Further, in accordance with GAR 75, Stewards requested Mr Galea to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Viking Junior in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.
A post-race sample was taken from Eat My Dust - winner of the event.
A post-race sample was taken from Crowdza Back - unplaced.
Supplementary Report
Viking Junior - Subsequent to the race meeting Trainer Paul Galea advised that the greyhound also had an injury to the right calf and would not race for approximately two weeks.
