All staff & participants attending the race meeting wore face masks at all times when inside the kennel block and associated buildings, and when engaged in the exclusive race day functions of boxing, starting, and catching greyhounds.

Tornado Tears was permitted by Stewards to be on-course under the provisions of GAR 30 for promotional activities. Tornado Tears also underwent a veterinary examination prior to the race-meeting.

Tabingo Bale and Rufus Scrimgeour were slow to begin.  Jet Legger was very slow to begin (3 lengths).

Gypsy Wyong checked off Weblec Star soon after the start.  Weblec Star checked off Time To Roll approaching the first turn.  Rufus Scrimgeour and Weblec Star collided on the second turn checking Rufus Scrimgeour.  Rufus Scrimgeour and Tom The Cheap collided entering the back straight checking both greyhounds.  Gypsy Wyong clipped the heels of Steamer Redeemer in the home straight checking Steamer Redeemer.

Snow Angel was quick to begin.

Osprey Rose shifted out soon after the start checking Blazer Glory.  Viking Junior checked off Crowdza Back approaching the first turn, colliding with Blazer Glory, Osprey Phantom, Crowdza Back, checking Blazer Glory, Osprey Phantom, severely checking Crowdza Back and Viking Junior.  Viking Junior pulled up in the back straight and failed to finish.

Viking Junior underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 4, and was found to have a left calf, triangle and fibula injuries.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr Paul Galea regarding its performance in this event. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Viking Junior must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted. Further, in accordance with GAR 75, Stewards requested Mr Galea to report as soon as practicable anything that may have affected the running of Viking Junior in the event, which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.

A post-race sample was taken from Crowdza Back - unplaced.

Supplementary Report

Viking Junior - Subsequent to the race meeting Trainer Paul Galea advised that the greyhound also had an injury to the right calf and would not race for approximately two weeks.

An out of competition sample was taken from Aston Fastnet on 26 May 2021, pursuant to GAR 79A.

Zheng and Aston Fastnet were quick to begin.

Meat Murphy and Family Trust collided soon after the start.  Zheng checked off Aston Fastnet approaching the first turn.  Major Sacrifice checked off Zheng on the second turn.  

Meat Murphy underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.

A post-race sample was taken from Aston Fastnet - winner of the event. 

Catcher Mr Charlie Pirotta was fined $50 under GAR 86 (o) for negligence for failing to catch the greyhound Meat Murphy.

Handler Brad Sands was reminded of his responsibilities to conduct himself is a proper manner when undertaking duties with officials post-race.

Voltage Spike stumbled at the start and lost ground.  Leo's My Champ was galloped on the heels on the first turn, became unbalanced and then shifted outwards and collided with Shall She Charm and Rip Off Roslyn checking Leo's My Champ, Shall She Charm and Rip Off Roslyn.  Fenway Lights and Hugo collided approaching the winning post.

An out of competition sample was taken from One Night Only on 24 May 2021, pursuant to GAR 79A.

A pre-race sample was taken from Radek Bale.

Radek Bale and Fernando Frank were slow to begin.

One Night Only checked off Night To Burn on the first turn.  Bit Twisted and Night To Burn collided in the front straight.  Zipping Annabel shifted out and collided with Night To Burn collided on the second turn, checking Zipping Annabel. Night To Burn galloped on the heels of Zipping Annabel approaching the third turn. Night To Burn shifted out and marred Zipping Annabel entering the back straight.

Zipping Annabel underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.  Stewards spoke to Mr David Kerr, the trainer of the greyhound.  Acting under GAR 75(1) Stewards ordered Mr Kerr to report as soon as practicable anything that may affected the running of Zipping Annabel in the event which was not noted by Stewards during or immediately after the event.

Night To Burn underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left tarsal sprain.  A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr Kyle Goodwin, the trainer regarding the greyhound’s racing manners entering the back straight.  Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Night To Burn was charged with marring.  Mr. Goodwin pleaded not guilty to the charge, Night To Burn was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.

Mepunga Katie was slow to begin.

Jepara and Do It collided soon after the start.  Well Grounded checked off Do It approaching the second turn.  Mepunga Katie checked off Do It approaching the third turn.

Let's See faltered on the second turn and subsequently failed to finish.  War Drum Express and Here's Tears collided on the home turn.

War Drum Express underwent a post-race veterinary examination due to losing ground betwen the 595m boxes until the finishing line. War Drum Express was found to have a left monkey muscle injury.  A 21 day stand down period was imposed. 

Let's See underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hock fracture.  A 90 day stand down period was imposed.

Following the running of this event, Stewards inspected the track on the second turn and were satisfied it was satisfactory for racing.

Maggie Moo Moo checked off Kenny the Brute approaching the first turn.  Stanley Road checked off Sir Truculent approaching the first turn.  Zack Monelli faltered on the fifth turn and subsequently failed to finish.

Zack Monelli underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hock fracture.  A 90 day stand down period was imposed.

Post-race urine and blood samples were taken from Zipping Rambo (1st), post-race urine samples were taken from Stanley Road (2nd) and Tyler Durden (3rd).
