He Shall Blitz was slow to begin.
Aston Fastnet and Running Express collided soon after the start. Running Express checked off Aston Fastnet approaching the first turn severely checking Running Express. Outstanding News faltered on the first turn, lost ground and subsequently pulled up. Fractured, Thursday Knight and Draft Monelli collided on the second turn. He Shall Blitz checked off Draft Monelli approaching the third turn. Thursday Knight brushed the running rail on the third turn. Fractured and Draft Monelli collided on the third turn.
Outstanding News underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right hind hock dislocation and fracture and a laceration to the left hind foot. A 90 day stand down period was imposed. The section of track on the first turn was inspected and deemed suitable to continue racing.
A post-race sample was taken from Aston Fastnet - winner of the event.
