Steward's Report
Stewards issued a warning pursuant to GAR 27(1) to Mr I Robinson after the greyhound, Rona Express momentarily escaped when parading prior to the running of this race. The greyhound was vetted and passed fit to race. After hearing submissions from Mr Robinson, Stewards reminded him of his responsibilities in accordance with GAR 27(1).
Zipping Malibu was quick to begin. Winlock Newbolt and Fearless Pigeon were slow to begin. Winlock Newbolt, Fearless Pigeon and Idalia Bale collided approaching the first turn. Rona Express, Jabba Bolt and Quinto Bale collided on the first turn; checking Rona Express and Quinto Bale. Rona Express and Winlock Newbolt collided on the home turn; checking Winlock Newbolt. Zipping Malibu lost ground approaching the winning post.
Zipping Malibu underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race ten. Zipping Malibu was found to have a spike wound to the right metatarsal. No stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr S Coulson, the handler of Zipping Malibu regarding its performance approaching the winning post. Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Zipping Malibu must perform a Satisfactory Trial pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Quinto Bale - the winner of the event.
