Banjo Bert was quick to begin. Rosie Posie was slow to begin. King Crown, Nova To Burn and Shift Change collided approaching the first turn. Rakesh and Elliott Ness collided approaching the first turn. Ching Ching raced wide to the first turn. Shift Change, Rosie Posie and Nova To Burn collided on the first turn;checking Nova To Burn, which collided with Rakesh. Nova To Burn galloped on the heels of Elliott Ness approaching the home turn; severely checking Elliott Ness.
Elliott Ness underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right hindleg. No stand down period was imposed.
