Magic Daisy and Daph's Wally were slow to begin.
Chatterbox Tilly and Curnow's Blues collided approaching the first turn. Chatterbox Tilly, Curnow's Blues, Summer Alarm and Senor Senor collided on the first turn, checking Chatterbox Tilly and Summer Alarm. Chatterbox Tilly and Summer Alarm collided on the first turn, severely checking Chatterbox Tilly and also checking Magic Daisy. Curnow's Blues checked off Senor Senor on the first turn, also checking Flying Foxy. Magic Daisy checked off Flying Fox on the home turn causing Magic Daisy to race wide as a result. Magic Daisy marred Flying Foxy in the home straight.

Stewards spoke to Mr P. Bartlett, the handler of Magic Daisy, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Magic Daisy was charged with marring. Mr P. Bartlett pleaded guilty to the charge, Magic Daisy was found guilty and is suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
