Phoenix Flight was slow to begin.
Tinker Gypsy checked off Island Chief soon after the start. Tinker Hazard checked off Tinker Gypsy approaching the first turn. Bakali George checked off Island Chief and Mystic Muse on the first turn. Queen Lisa checked off Phoenix Flight on the first turn. Tinker Hazard and Phoenix Flight collided approaching the home turn. Tinker Gypsy veered out and marred Phoenix Flight on the home turn checking Queen Lisa, Tinker Gypsy, Phoenix Flight and Tinker Hazard. Tinker Gypsy veered out and marred Queen Lisa in the home straight.
Tinker Gypsy underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported. Stewards spoke to Mr. Craig Burns, the trainer regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn and in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Tinker Gypsy was charged with marring. Mr. Burns pleaded guilty to the charge,Tinker Gypsy was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
