Steward's Report
Shima Jake and Invictus Ethan were slow to begin.
Post Office Girl and Shima Jake collided soon after the start checking Shima Jake and Invictus Ethan. Golden Skyrocket and Coterie collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn checking Golden Skyrocket, Coterie and Jazz Opera. Invictus Ethan, Westar Bundy and Golden Skyrocket collided approaching the second turn severely checking Golden Skyrocket and Westar Bundy. Invictus Ethan and Coterie collided on the second turn checking Coterie. Coterie and Jazz Opera collided approaching the home turn checking Jazz Opera. Invictus Ethan crossed out and marred Coterie on the home turn severely checking Jazz Opera, Golden Skyrocket, Coterie and Invictus Ethan; causing Coterie to falter and pull up, Jazz Opera to tail off, Golden Skyrocket and Invictus Ethan to fall.
Jazz Opera underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have injuries to both wrists. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Golden Skyrocket underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abrasion to the right hind paw. No stand down period was imposed.
Coterie underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a groin injury and bruising to the left hind leg. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Invictus Ethan underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Mrs Marlene Schmidt, the trainer of Invictus Ethan regarding the greyhound’s racing manners on the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Invictus Ethan was charged with marring. Mrs Schmidt pleaded guilty to the charge, Invictus Ethan was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and must perform a Satisfactory Trial in accordance with GAR 69(2) and pursuant to GAR 72, before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Mepunga Reject the winner of the event.
