Steward's Report
Ivy Isobel was slow to begin. Lakeview Cruiser was very slow to begin. Aussie Swan and Kalkari crossed to the rail approaching the first turn severely checking Bomber's Smokey. Into The River checked off Bomber's Smokey approaching the first turn; Into The River contacted the running rail as a result. Lucero and Lakeview Cruiser collided on the first turn. Ivy Isobel checked off Kalkari on the first turn. Ivy Isobel galloped on Kalkari approaching the home turn checking Ivy Isobel. Bomber's Smokey and Ivy Isobel collided approaching the home turn. Into The River turned it's head in and marred Bomber's Smokey in the home straight. Into The River and Bomber's Smokey collided several times in the home straight.
Into The River underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a left monkey muscle injury, bruising to the left thigh and a laceration to the left hock. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. Gary McMillan, the trainer of Into The River regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Into The River was charged with marring. Mr. McMillan pleaded guilty to the charge, Into The River is suspended for 28 days at Sale and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nominationm will be accepted.
