Mandalo was slow to begin.
Crackerjack Keg and Earn The Answers collided soon after the start. Earn The Answers crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Crackerjack Keg and Flexing. Super Remi checked off Flexing approaching the home turn, checking Crackerjack Keg. Flexing and Jafar Bale collided in the home straight.
Mandalo, which trailed the field throughout the event and tailed off, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race five. Mandalo was found to have a right hindleg back muscle injury. A 60 day stand down period was imposed.
