Steward's Report
Carry On Liam and Kiss Your Lips collided soon after the start. Aston Santana and Uncle's Girl collided soon after the start checking Tokyo Bird. Aston Santana, Uncle's Girl and Tokyo Bird collided in the front straight. Carry On Liam and Kiss Your Lips collided in the front straight. Carry On Star and Carry On Maxwell collided approaching the first turn. Kiss Your Lips and Aston Santana collided on the first turn severely checking both greyhounds. Kiss Your Lips checked off Aston Santana on the second turn checking Tokyo Bird. Aston Santana checked off Tokyo Bird entering the back straight severely checking both greyhounds, causing Tokyo Bird to contact the running rail; Aston Santana and Tokyo Bird tailed off as a result. Uncle's Girl checked off Carry On Liam entering the home straight.
Stewards reviewed a racing incident in the home straight between the greyhounds Tokyo Bird and Aston Santana, and spoke to the Trainer of Tokyo Bird - Mr. Jason Sharp regarding the manner in which the greyhound raced in the home straight. In relation to the incident, Stewards reviewed the severe interference suffered in the back straight, which caused both Tokyo Bird and Aston Santana to tail off. This caused both greyhounds to be a significant distance from the leading field and lure once they entered the home straight. Tokyo Bird was also vetted and was found to have a right thigh and left groin injuries. A 10 day stand down period was imposed. After considering all the evidence and taking into account their own observations and the injuries sustained, Stewards took no further action in relation to the incident.
Aston Santana underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have right chest muscle injury. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
