A pre-race sample was taken from Akina Blaze.
Sweet Gabriella was quick to begin. Akina Blaze was slow to begin.
Sibling, Zambezi Icon and Romeo Lad collided soon after the start checking Sibling. Zambezi Icon and Romeo Lad collided approaching the first turn. Zambezi Icon checked off Sweet Gabriella approaching the first turn checking Zambezi Icon. Artemisia and Akina Blaze collided on the first turn checking Artemisia. Sibling and Akina Blaze collided approaching the second turn. Sibling and Romeo Lad collided on the second turn. Sweet Gabriella and Akina Blaze collided in the back straight. Sweet Gabriella and Zambezi Icon collided on the home turn. Romeo Lad checked off Artemisia in the home straight. Artemisia marred Blazin' Hawk in the home straight.
Artemisia underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a laceration to the left foreleg. A 5 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Mr G. Girvasi, the trainer of Artemisia regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Artemisia was charged with marring. Mr Girvasi pleaded guilty to the charge, Artemisia is suspended for 28 days at Cranbourne and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
