Steward's Report
Rebel May Road, Predator and Devon Shadow were slow to begin.
My Bro Lucky, Yellowtail Bear and Predator collided soon after the start. Yellowtail Bear and Predator collided approaching the first turn. My Bro Lucky contacted the running rail approaching the first turn. Rebel May Road and Darcon Lass collided on the first turn. Luna Chick raced wide and collided with Devon Shadow on the third turn, the home turn and in the home straight checking both greyhounds. Predator and Darcon Lass collided approaching the winning post.
Luna Chick underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race 4 - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Mr S. Ralph, the trainer of Luna Chick who stated the greyhound has a tenancy to race wide and was of the opinion that Devon Shadow was attempting to race closer to the rail. After viewing all available video footage Stewards issued a warning regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn.
La Quinta Rocks underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
Stewards spoke to Mr K. Wright the trainer of Yellowtail Bear. Acting under the provisions of GAR 48, Stewards issued a warning to Mr Wright for his failure to engage a catcher for his greyhound in this event.
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Predator, a post-race sample was subsequently taken.
A post-race sample was taken from Rebel May Road - winner of the event.
