Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Quick Express.
Quick Express, Grand Fletch and Ducky's Delight collided soon after the start, checking Grand Fletch. Berringa Blue and Zambezi Icon collided approaching the first turn, checking Zambezi Icon. Quick Express visibly eased on the first turn and collided with Aston Fume, severely checking Aston Flume. Grand Fletch and Zambezi Icon collided on the home turn. Aston Fume and Geena Bale collided on the home turn. Quick Express and Zambezi Icon collided in the home straight. Grand Fletch and Geena Bale collided approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to trainer Mr S.Stefanos and reminded him of his responsibilities behind the boxes in accordance with GAR 51.
Quick Express underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race six. Quick Express was found to have a thoraco-lumbar injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Quick Express was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr S.VanTaarling pleaded guilty to the charge, Quick Express must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
