Steward's Report
Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8. Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff, at all times.
Ashby Swift – New declared weight of 30.1 kgs, last raced at 31.2 kgs.
Free Advice, Rayner, Zellweger and Manila King were quick to begin. Dewana Step was slow to begin.
Rayner, Zellweger and Manila King collided soon after the start, checking all three greyhounds. Rayner checked off Zellweger approaching the first turn. Manila King, Ashby Swift and Konta collided on the first turn, checking Rayner and Zellweger, severely checking Manila King and Konta; causing Ashby Swift to fall. Goggins and Dewana Step collided approaching the home turn.
Ashby Swift underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was re-examined following race four. Ashby Swift was found to have lumbo-sacral and a left hindleg triangle injuries. A ten day stand down period was imposed.
A post-race sample was taken from Dewana Step - the winner of the event.
