Calfuray crossed towards the rail soon after the start and collided with Petey Baqui and Don's Just Under. Don's Just Under, Petey Baqui and Shimmy Dat Ray collided several times approaching the first turn severely checking Petey Baqui. Gold Odessa checked off Dodge Coupe approaching the first turn. Petey Baqui crossed to the outside and raced wide on the home turn.

Petey Baqui underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported
