Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Startron.
Blackpool Ammo went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.
Startron, Mindy's Girl and Cee Jay Ace collided soon after the start checking Mindy's Girl and Cee Jay Ace. Inga Ollie and Kraken Jess collided soon after the start checking Inga Ollie. Mindy's Girl, Cee Jay Ace and My American Girl collided on the first turn checking Cee Jay Ace and My American Girl. Mindy's Girl and Kraken Jess raced wide in the home straight.
Following this event, the Stewards declared "Hold All Tickets" to allow them to review the official footage of the start after Blackpool Ammo was observed to falter at box rise. The Stewards inspected the starting boxes, lids and grill and observed nothing abnormal or amiss with them. In assessing the incident, the Stewards were mindful of the particular provision in GAR 56 that deals with non-starters in that “If in the opinion of the Stewards a greyhound has been prevented from participating on equal terms with other starters in the Event because of fault connected with the starting boxes or the circumstances of placing the greyhounds therein“ to determine this matter. After consideration, the Stewards were entirely satisfied that nothing abnormal occurred in the circumstances of placing Blackpool Ammo into the starting boxes and that there is or was no fault or abnormality with the usual standard function or set-up of the starting boxes either. As such, all greyhounds were deemed starters and the All Clear was posted on 2-3-5-6.
Blackpool Ammo underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
