Steward's Report
Who Cry Now, Athena's Warrior and Aston Dynamo were slow to begin and collided soon after the start checking Who Cry Now and Athena's Warrior. Aston Dynamo, Christo Bale, Gypsy's Mindy and Road To Success collided approaching the first turn checking Christo Bale, Gypsy's Mindy and Sweet Impala. Who Cry Now checked off Athena's Warrior approaching the first turn. Aston Dynamo crossed to the outside on the first turn checking Road To Success. Athena's Warrior contacted the running rail on the first turn. Gypsy's Mindy and Sweet Impala collided on the second turn. Christo Bale and Aston Dynamo collided entering the back straight. Athena's Warrior checked off Who Cry Now on the third turn and again approaching the home turn. Who Cry Now checked off Sweet Impala approaching the home turn. Athena's Warrior marred Who Cry Now approaching the home turn severely checking Who Cry Now.
Athena's Warrior underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the right pectoral muscle and a laceration the left hock. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr G Turnbull, the representative of Athena's Warrior regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(1) Athena's Warrior was charged with marring. Mr Turnbull pleaded guilty to the charge, Athena's Warrior is suspended for 28 days at The Meadows and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Christo Bale - the winner of the event.
