Steward's Report
The track was inspected again at the closure of kennels to evaluate remedial work undertaken by Club staff during kennelling. Following the inspection Stewards were satisified with the surface.
Chill Out Pedro and Explosive Avatar were quick to begin. Our Ando and Go Rosie were slow to begin.
Our Ando and Inga Lewis collided soon after the start. Explosive Avatar and Chill Out Pedro collided approaching the first turn checking Chill Out Pedro. Chill Out Pedro, Inga Lewis and Go Rosie collided approaching the first turn checking Chill Out Pedro, Inga Lewis and Go Rosie. Molly Fernando crossed to the rail on the first turn checking Our Ando and Chill Out Pedro. Inga Lewis and Go Rosie collided approaching the first turn checking both greyhounds. Molly Fernando raced wide entering the home straight. Chill Out Pedro shifted up the track and turned its head outwards approaching the winning post.
Chill Out Pedro underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the left monkey muscle, a 7 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Trainer Mr. T. Sinnott, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Chill Out Pedro was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr. T. Sinnott pleaded not guilty to the charge, Chill Out Pedro was found guilty and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Trainer Mr T. Sinnott was questioned regarding a wound to the left hind stifle. After taking evidence from Mr Sinnott regarding the injury and his treatment practices, and also giving consideration to recommendations from the On Track Veterinarian, Stewards ordered Mr Sinnott to produce a veterinary certificate to the satisfaction of Stewards pursuant to GAR 20(3)(v) prior to the greyhound being nominated.
