Steward's Report
Crackerjack Kane, Classified, Mepunga Wonder, Medina and Razor Sharp collided soon after the start checking Classified, Mepunga Wonder and Medina. Classified and Mepunga Wonder collided on the first turn checking Classified and Lena Lake. Victoria's Kara, Razor Sharp and Crackerjack Kane collided on the first turn checking Razor Sharp.Crackerjack Kane and Mepunga Wonder collided approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds. Classified and Mepunga Wonder collided on the home turn. Crackerjack Kane and Razor Sharp collided several times in the home straight checking Razor Sharp. Mepunga Wonder turned its head outwards and visibly eased in the home straight.
Mepunga Wonder underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an injury to the left monkey muscle,a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to handler Mr. M. Lanigan regarding the greyhound's racing manners in the home straight. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Mepunga Wonder was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Mr Lanigan pleaded guilty to the charge, Mepunga Wonder must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
