Due to Government Social Distancing Laws under COVID-19 and acting in accordance with GAR 51 (10), the Stewards have directed that the boxing process in Victoria will revert to and continue under the 4-wave model being 1 & 5 boxed first, followed by 3 & 7, followed by 2 & 6, followed by 4 & 8.  Handlers are required to exit the area after boxing and maintain their 1.5m distance from other handlers and staff, at all times.

All persons (both Staff & Participants) attending today, undertook health screenings, permitting entry to the venue for exclusive race-day functions and operations.

Track Curator, Mr R Hamilton advised that the track was medium harrowed on Wednesday, 8 April 2020.

Sweet Osaka and Inga Alfie were quick to begin.  Forty Free Beans was slow to begin.

Pyrenees Spirit and Red Mahogany collided on the first turn.

Stewards reminded Mr Dean Elliot, handler of  Sweet Osaka, of his responsibilities after he failed to make application for a bandage endorsement prior to the event.

Mr G Harding was fined $50 for failing to ensure the registration card was produced for the greyhound Manila Crow pursuant to GAR 33.

Battling Baz was slow to begin.

Manila Shine – Late scratching at 9:56 am, due to non-arrival (GAR 31).  A 28 day-stand down period was imposed.  Trainer, Mr G Harding informed Stewards that it was the result of a vehicle breakdown and that he had no other vehicle to transport greyhounds to the track.  Stewards have advised Mr Harding that evidence of the breakdown will need to be submitted, to the satisfaction of Stewards, within 48 hours of the occurrence that caused the non-arrival.  The matter will be re-evaluated upon receipt of this evidence.

Screen Out – New declared weight of 30.4 kgs, last raced at 28.7 kgs.

The start of this event was rescheduled to 3:44 pm, due to the lure needing to be repositioned.

Get On Phil and Rona Express were quick to begin.

Frainy's Well stumbled soon after the start and lost ground.  Get On Phil checked off Rona Express approaching the first turn.  Sweet Rhythm and Screen Out collided on the first turn, checking Sweet Rhythm.  Get On Phil and Rona Express collided on the home turn.

The track was upgraded from Slow to Good at 3:56 pm.

Fishbone Express, Enid's Angel and Tango Icon were quick to begin.  Inga Bobby was slow to begin.

Kraken Pat checked off Winlock Dyno soon after the start.  Fleur Burger checked off Winlock Dyno soon after the start.  Outlaw Donny, Be So Good and Winlock Dyno collided approaching the first turn, checking Be So Good.  Outlaw Donny and Winlock Dyno collided on the first turn, severely checking both greyhounds; also checking Fleur Burger and Tye Me Chopper.  Winlock Dyno checked off Outlaw Donny approaching the home turn.

Tye Me Chopper, which trailled the field throughout, underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.  Trainer, Mr R Martin declined to have the greyhound re-vetted.

Stewards spoke to Mr R Martin, the trainer of Tye Me Chopper regarding its performance in this event.  Stewards deemed the performance unsatisfactory, acting in accordance with GAR 71, Tye Me Chopper must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Iceni Crusader checked off Untold Soldier soon after the start.  Jacobite Jye checked off Untold Soldier approaching the first turn.  Kraken Tex checked off Iceni Crusader on the first turn and collided with Jacobite Jye.  Jacobite Jye and Kraken Tex collided approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds.

Jacobite Jye which tired in the home straight underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have no apparent injury .  No  stand down penalty was imposed.

Stewards issued a warning to handler, Mr D Elliot after he was late to appear at the kennels by the appointed time to retrieve and prepare Run From Reality for racing.

Zita underwent a veterinary examination at the start, prior to racing and was passed fit to race; as a result the start of this event was delayed four minutes, with a rescheduled starting time of 6:25 pm.
