Mepunga Daniel, Tiggerlong Back and Gala Bale collided on the first turn, checking Tiggerlong Back, Gala Bale and Tiggerlong Ginga. Eaglehawk Miss, Fast Trapper, Galena Bale and Mepunga Daniel collided on the first turn, checking Fast Trapper and Galena Bale. Tiggerlong Back and Gala Bale collided on the home turn and again entering the home straight. Eaglehawk Miss and Fast Trapper collided on the home turn, checking Fast Trapper.
Fast Trapper, which fell after the winning post, underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a right foreleg split webbing and left foreleg monkey muscle injuries. A 10 day stand down period was imposed.
