Barooga Brett was slow to begin. Go Commando, Shanlyn Charlott and Last Hurrah collided on the first turn, checking Go Commando. Last Hurrah clipped the heels of Run Baba Run on the third turn, checking Last Hurrah. Leon Bale and Western Envoy collided approaching the home turn. Last Hurrah and Shanlyn Charlott collided in the home straight.
Western Envoy underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have a spike wound to the right metatarsal. No stand down period was imposed.
