Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Blue Shadows.
Blue Shadows, Peppertide and Weetbix Jester were slow to begin. Peppertide and Weetbix Jester collided on the first turn checking Weetbix Jester. Blue Shadows checked off Annie Lava on the first turn. Weetbix Jester visibly eased and turned its head outwards approaching the first turn. Peppertide and Weetbix Jester collided several times from the fifth turn until the home turn. Weetbix Jester marred the running of Peppertide entering the home straight and in the home straight.
Weetbix Jester was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the left shoulder, a 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards spoke to Ms. B. Breen, Trainer, regarding the greyhound's racing manners approaching the first turn. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(B)(1), Weetbix Jester was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury). Ms Breen pleaded guilty to the charge, Weetbix Jester must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
