Merriview Benny was quick to begin. Qiuck Blaze was slow to begin.
Maeve and Thomeli Gal collided approaching the first turn checking Maeve. Thomeli Gal checked off Emily Oaks on the first turn. Merriview Benny and Bastian Bale collided on the first turn. Maeve checked off the heels of Amber's Dolly approaching the home turn. Quick Blaze and Maeve collided entering the home straight. Maeve and Amber's Dolly collided several times in the home straight. Bastian Bale visibly eased approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr R. Gladman the trainer of Maeve and issued a warning regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post.
Stewards spoke to Mr S Collyer, the trainer of Bastian Bale regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under the provisions of GAR 69(A)(1) Bastian Bale was charged with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Collyer pleaded guilty to the charge, Bastian Bale is suspended for 3 months at all tracks and must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b) before any future nomination will be accepted.
Maeve underwent a post-race veterinary examination and was found to have an abdominal muscle injury. A 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Bastian Bale underwent a post-race veterinary examination - no apparent injury was reported.
A post-race sample was taken from Merriview Benny - the winner of the event.
