Steward's Report
Shanalinga was a late scratching at 8:44am due to an injury (GAR 23). A 10 day stand down period was imposed. Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted.
The outside temperature at race start time was 28.6 degrees, the inside kennel temperature immediately prior to the race when the greyhounds were retrieved was 18.6 degrees.
Angie was slow to begin.
Big Butterbean eased approaching the winning post.
Judges inadvertently displayed the wrong race number for this event which was corrected before all clear was given.
Big Butterbean was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right wrist injury a 3 day stand down period was imposed.
A pre-race sample was unable to be obtained from Big Butterbean a post race sample was subsequently taken.
Stewards spoke to Mr G. Bartlett, the trainer of the greyhound Big Butterbean regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Big Butterbean with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Bartlett pleaded not guilty to the charge, Big Butterbean was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 12 months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(c), before any future nomination will be accepted
