Steward's Report
Ninety Proof, Black Opium and Ebb were slow to begin.
Unique Edition and Darcon Flash collided soon after the start. Please Stand Up, Darcon Flash and Ohana Sparkles collided on the first turn checking Please Stand Up and severely checking Darcon Flash, Ebb and Ohana Sparkles. Darcon Flash marred Please Stand Up approaching the home turn severely checking Please Stand Up.
Darcon Flash was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained left deltoid injury and left and right foreleg toe soreness, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr R. Conway, the trainer of the greyhound Darcon Flash regarding the greyhounds racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Darcon Flash with marring. Mr Conway pleaded not guiltyto the charge, Darcon Flash was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Sandown and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
A post-race sample was taken from Black Opium - winner of the event.
