Chief's Empire was quick to begin. Loading Zone and Slingshot Hammer were slow to begin. Fab Reiko and Orson Allen collided soon after the start. Awesome Catch contacted the running rail approaching the first turn. Orson Allen checked off Chief's Empire on the first turn. Fab Reiko and Ash Star collided on the first turn, checking Fab Reiko, Ash Star and Often Imitated. Loading Zone raced wide on the first turn. Often Imitated galloped on the heels of Ash Star approaching the second turn, and raced wide. Chief's Empire and Orson Allen collided approaching the second turn, checking Chief's Empire. Awesome Catch and Ash Star collided entering the back straight, checking Ash Star. Fab Reiko and Loading Zone collided on the third turn, checking both greyhounds.
