Supplementary Report:

Stewards have now finalised an inquiry into the circumstances of the kennelling of Lektra Caution at Ballarat on 30 January 2019. Evidence was initially taken from Mr George Dailly on the day and then subsequently from the Trainer of Lektra Caution, Mrs Andrea Dailly.  Mrs Dailly accepted the responsibility for failing to comply with a policy adopted by the Controlling Body (GRV Hot Weather Policy) in that Lektra Caution was kennelled wearing a Barking Muzzle, which is fully prohibited at heat effected race meetings. Mrs Dailly acknowledged the offence and accepted a fine of $250 as penalty. The Stewards would like to remind all participants that the requirements of the Hot Weather and Transport Policies are non-negotiable and sanctions will apply for non-compliance issues. Save for Lektra Caution being passed fit to race, the sanction/fine would be manifestly higher. 

On Tuesday 5th February 2019, Trainer Keith Lloyd advised that Cavalry Rose who had raced at Ballarat 4th February 2019, had sustained the following injuries, soreness in the monkey muscle, chest muscle & strain in the back muscle. 

Due to rainfall during kennelling, Stewards walked the track prior to this event and were satisfied the track surface was suitable for racing.

Twisted Whisker was slow to begin.

Blue Addition, Stoikos and Whitehart Magic collided approaching the first turn, checking Stoikos. Cherokee Fawn checked off Stoikos on the first turn. Whitehart Magic, Blue Addition and Bush Bro collided on the first turn, checking Stoikos and severely checking Blue Addition. Twisted Whisker, Blue Addition and Stoikos collided approaching the home turn. Blue Addition checked off Stoikos on the home turn, colliding with Cherokee Fawn. 

A sample was taken from Whitehart Magic - the winner of the event.

Blue Addition was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Due to continuing rainfall, Stewards walked the track prior to this race and were entirely satisfied that the track was suitable for racing.

During the running of this race, it became evident that a greyhound was carrying the 3 rug when there was no such number scheduled to compete in the race. After some identification checks were carried out, it was established that Bush Mate, which was drawn in box 4, had worn the incorrect race rug in the event. However so, after taking evidence from the Starter Mr. R. Phillips, Trainer Mr. D. Fleming, Steward Mr. J. Rea and the Parade Official before the All Clear was given, it further materialised that Bush Mate had in fact also started from the incorrect box (3) instead of (4). Therefore, as the race did not occur as advertised, that betting was offered and occurred on a set of facts and circumstances that did not eventuate and that the race was not conducted in accordance with the box draw (GAR 22), the Stewards declared the event a No Race pursuant to GAR 56 (1). All bets were to be refunded. Stewards ordered all weights to be removed from the weight cards of the greyhounds.

Stewards opened an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Bush Mate starting from the incorrect box and wearing the incorrect race rug. After taking evidence from several persons, the matter was adjourned to a date to be fixed. The matter was also referred to the Chief Steward who will be conducting an internal investigation into this matter.

Dirty Boston galloped on Aussie Muscle approaching the first turn, checking both greyhounds. Dyna Turner, Dyna Joanie and Dyna Ukana collided on the first turn, checking Dyna Joanie and Dyna Ukana. Come On Leyna checked off Dyna Joanie on the first turn. Aussie Muscle checked off Dyna Joanie in the home straight.

Dirty Boston was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained hamstring injuries to left and right hindlegs, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards spoke to Mr. G Jose, the trainer of I'm Giggling Now, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  I'm Giggling Now last raced on 12/8/18. Mr. Jose stated that the greyhound was returning to racing following a left metacarpal fracture.

Noonbarra Jack was slow to begin.

Noonbarra Jack checked off I'm Giggling Now soon after the start. Milo Allen checked off I'm Giggling Now on the first turn. Dyna Varsity and Dyna Yappy collided approaching the first turn, checking Dyna Yappy. I'm Giggling Now and Dyna Varsity collided approaching the home turn. Milo Allen, Dyna Yappy and Noonbarra Jack collided approaching the home turn. Knockout Fantasy turned its head outwards and collided with Bintang Bullet entering the home straight. Dyna Varsity checked off Bintang Bullet in the home straight.

Knockout Fantasy was vetted following the event. It was reported there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to Mr.J.Borg , the handler of the greyhound  Knockout Fantasy, regarding the greyhound's racing manners entering the home straight.  Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Knockout Fantasy with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. J. Borg pleaded guilty to the charge, Knockout Fantasy was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Tom Riddle and Emerald Rainbow were slow to begin.

Uringa went up with the box lids and lost ground as a result. Cruisy's Rose and Tom Riddle collided approaching the home turn. Quip Allen checked off Midnight Memphis approaching the home turn, checking Uringa. Uringa made contact with the running rail approaching the home turn. Uringa and Who's Got Class collided entering the home straight.

Uringa was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Sisco Dun and Bold were slow to begin.

Bold checked off Sisco Ride on the first turn. Sisco Ride checked off Hotspur Joey on the first turn. Waleonjon, Kadalex Kid and Goldenpaw Lad collided on the first turn, checking Kadalex Kid and Goldenpaw Lad . Goldenpaw Lad checked off Kadalex Kid in the back straight. Kadalex Kid checked off Bold on the second turn. Kadalex Kid and Goldenpaw Lad raced wide in the home straight.

Balance, Lost Love, Aron Allen, Garick Olivander, River Crossing and Shannon Allen collided approaching the first turn, checking Lost Love,Shannon Allen,Garick Olivander and Aron Allen, which lost ground as a result. Balance and Aron Allen raced wide in the home straight.

River Crossing was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

A pre race sample was taken from Jakesta.

Rixy Ya Pest was slow to begin.

John's Last checked off Speed Star on the first turn, checking Lagoon Pirate. Big Flood, John's Last and Lagoon Pirate collided on the first turn, checking John's Last and Lagoon Pirate. Lagoon Pirate galloped on Big Flood on the first turn, checking Big Flood. Jakesta, Speed Star and Italian Plastic collided on the home turn, checking Speed Star. Rixy Ya Pest and Speed star collided entering the home straight. Jakesta and Italian Plastic collided entering the home straight. Speed Star checked off Rixy Ya Pest in the home straight.

Winlock Newbolt and Dirty Max were slow to begin.

Chapta Lee checked off Diesel's A Rebel approaching the first turn. Diesel's A Rebel checked off Crakalakin Caity on the first turn, severely checking Poppy Yaala. Diesel's A Rebel checked off Pectoralis approaching the home turn. Chapta Lee and Winlock Newbolt collided on the home turn, checking Dirty Max.

Khlo Money was quick to begin.  Flossy Lee was slow to begin.

My Word Shirley, Agent Cue and My Ollie collided approaching the first turn, checking Agent Cue and My Ollie. Flossy Lee checked off Joyous Jill approaching the first turn. Flossy Lee, Agent Que and My Ollie collided on the first turn. My Ollie checked off Agent Que on the home turn. My Word Shirley and Khlo Money collided on the home turn.

Untold Soldier was quick to begin.

Wanna Allen shifted in soon after the start, checking Dyna Hinkley and Bide Your Time. Dyna Hinkley and Bide Your Time collided on the first turn, checking Dyna Hinkley.

Mr.J Frusher, trainer of Bombora Comet, declared a new weight of 29.3kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Bombora Comet last raced at 28.00kg.

Splash Of Blue, Bush Destroyer, Shifter Magic and Bombora Comet collided approaching the first turn, checking Bush Destroyer. Secret Business and Eureka Creek collided approaching the first turn, checking Secret Business. Splash Of Blue, Shifter Magic and Bombora Comet collided on the first turn, checking Shifter Magic. Secret Business and Petey Baqui collided on the first turn, checking Secret Business. Flo Jo Focus checked off Secret Business on the home turn.
