Inquiry - Race 10 at Ballarat, Thursday 31 May 2018:

GRV Stewards today inquired into an incident that occurred during a Stewards inquiry into the performance of Riverdale Danger from Race 10 at the Ballarat Greyhound Racing Club meeting held on Thursday, 31 May 2018.  Stewards took evidence from Mr Matthew Blood, GRV Steward, and Mr Ian Green, trainer of Riverdale Danger.  Acting under GAR 86(q) Stewards charged Mr Ian Green with conduct that was detrimental or prejudicial to the interests and control of greyhound racing by making inappropriate comments during the inquiry, before leaving the in-progress inquiry without permission.  Mr Green pleaded guilty to the charge.  Mr Green was found guilty.

In determining penalty, Stewards took into consideration Mr Green’s good and long record with GRV, his guilty plea, his personnel antecedence and the forthright way he conducted himself before the Stewards today.  Against these factors, Stewards considered the nature and gravity of the incident, the precedents and penalties of several other similar cases, the very real need to deter participants to act in this manner or similar, the poor nature of the incident and that behaviour such as this is not acceptable from licensed persons (General Deterrence).  However, in view of Mr Green's significant mitigation factors, including an apology to the Stewards involved, Stewards suspended half of the $500 fine for 24 months, pending no further conduct related offences in this time.  Stewards reminded Mr Green that a trainer’s license is a privilege to hold and not a right.  Further still, save for Mr Green leaving the owner of Riverdale Danger in the Stewards room at Ballarat to complete the inquiry, the penalty would have been significantly higher.

Race 1 - Wednesday, 13 June 2018:

Major Style and Covfefe were slow to begin.  Happy Cruising and Senni Max collided soon after the start, checking Senni Max.  Big Cam, Three Soldiers, Senni Max and Major Style collided on the first turn, checking Three Soldiers, and severely checking Major Style and Senni Max.  Happy Cruising checked off Pyrenees Blaze approaching the home turn.  Covfefe checked off Big Cam on the home turn.  Dark Tyde raced wide entering the home straight.

Major Style was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hindleg toe injury, a three day stand down period was imposed.

Senni Max was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left hindleg back muscle injury and abrasions to the left foreleg, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.

A sample was taken from Dark Tyde - the winner of the event.

Polly's Nigel and Chiming In were slow to begin.  Our Chieftain stumbled at box rise and was slow to begin.  Chiming In and Our Chieftain collided soon after the start, checking Chiming In.  Chiming In checked off Polly's Nigel on the first turn.  Ballyjamesduff checked off White Cynder on the first turn.  Our Chieftain checked off Speedy Spyro approaching the home turn.  Chiming In checked off Speedy Spyro on the home turn.  Speedy Spyro lost ground over the concluding stages of the event.

Speedy Spyro was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained left and right foreleg toe injuries, a five day stand down period was imposed.

Pop Do It was slow to begin.  Logistic Kid checked off Jai Jai Away approaching the first turn.  Ikon Parker checked off Theatrics Show on the first turn, checking both greyhounds.  Pop Do It checked off Ikon Parker approaching the home turn.  Trinity Kid lost ground over the concluding stages of the event.

Theatrics Show was vetted following the event following a fall in the catching pen.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Trinity Kid was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left foreleg deltoid muscle injury, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.

A sample was taken from Kiss Me Marday - the winner of the event.

A pre-race sample was taken from Miss Congenial.

Marlucky Day and Whoomph was slow to begin.  Tankalicious was very slow to begin (3L).  Miss Congenial checked off Lily Boswell approaching the first turn.  Tankalicious, Marlucky Day and Whoomph collided on the first turn, checking Tankalicious and Marlucky Day.  Da End checked off Whoomph approaching the home turn.

Projectile and Speedy Scar were slow to begin.  Big Bazza checked off Blue Vegas approaching the first turn.  Blue Vegas and Swift Ruby collided approaching the first turn, checking Swift Ruby.  Blue Vegas galloped on the heels of Blackjack Cruise on the first turn, checking both greyhounds.  Blackjack Cruise checked off Swift Ruby approaching the home turn.  Blue Vegas checked off Big Bazza entering the home straight.

Our Didda, Destini Ferrari and Blue Magoo were slow to begin.  Blue Magoo checked off I'm A Princess soon after the start.  Rumbling Bajooks and Banjo Fever collided entering the back straight, checking Banjo Fever.  Banjo Fever and I'm A Princess collided on the second turn, checking Banjo Fever.  Print The Cheque crossed to the rail in the home straight, checking I'm A Princess.  Our Didda raced wide in the home straight.

Gin Lee's Bullet, Kulu Lightning, Splinter and Slick Brew were slow to begin.  Gin Lee's Bullet galloped on the heels of Muzzle Welsh on the first turn, checking Gin Lee's Bullet and Splinter, severely checking Muzzle Welsh and Kulu Lightning; Kulu Lightning stumbled and lost ground and Muzzle Welsh fell as a result.  Graphite County galloped on the heels of Rockin' Joe in the back straight, checking Rockin' Joe.  Slick Brew and Graphite County collided in the home straight.  Minnie Ha Ha and Graphite County collided approaching the winning post.

Muzzle Welsh was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Kulu Lightning was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Blackpool Donny, Leave Me Out and Ace Ventura were slow to begin.  Merc and Rellim Diesel collided soon after the start, checking Rellim Diesel.  Merc and Slipaway Bolt collided approaching the first turn, checking Slipaway Bolt and Leave Me Out.  Chrissy Pee checked off Blackpool Donny on the first turn.  Slipaway Bolt checked off Leave Me Out approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds.

Merc was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left foreleg wrist injury, a five day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards issued a warning to Mrs Ann Panetta, the handler of Merc, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post.

Mickie Raven and Go Natalie Go were slow to begin and collided soon after the start.  Cruisy's Patch, Anita's Girl and Cool Number collided soon after the start, checking Anita's Girl.  Cool Number crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Cruisy's Patch and Pyrenees Inferno.  Trouble Brewing checked off Two Phils Cool on the first turn.  Cruisy's Patch checked off Go Natalie Go approaching the home turn.  Anita's Girl and Mickie Raven collided entering the home straight.  Trouble Brewing and Go Natalie Go collided entering the home straight.  Trouble Brewing and Mickie Raven raced wide in the home straight.
