A false start was declared under GAR 56 on the initial attempt to start this race as a rabbit was sighted in the vicinity of the home turn. All greyhounds were removed from the starting boxes and examined by the veterinary surgeon. All greyhounds were passed fit to start. The track was cleared and the race commenced approximately four minutes after the scheduled starting time.

Yaritza Allen crossed to the outside soon after the start checking Newtown Angel, Blackpool Remi and Dyna Fiver. Stewards spoke to kennel representative Mr Clint Capuano regarding the scratching of Galina Reznikov in this event. Mr Capuano stated that the greyhound tore a monkey muscle yesterday whilst exercising and accordingly the greyhound will not race for a few weeks. Mr Capuano's comments were noted.

Mepunga Pride, Fernando's Flare, Dazzling Liesel and Dazzling Melody collided soon after the start checking Fernando's Flare and Dazzling Liesel. Fernando's Flare checked off Mepunga Pride soon after the start. Plus Thicknesse and Ball Bearing collided approaching the first turn checking Plus Thicknesse. Dazzling Liesel was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a back muscle injury, a 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Mr John Magri presented Print The Cheque for a veterinary examination at the request of the Bendigo Stewards after being scratched there from Race 5 today. The On-Course Vet reported that Print The Cheque presented with a left wrist injury.
