Steward's Report

Stewards opened an inquiry into the bona fides of this race and in particular the circumstances surrounding the nomination of Splinter, Quest For Glory and Print The Cheque and the subsequent withdrawal of Print The Cheque. All three greyhounds have the same trainer. Stewards took evidence from Mrs Michelle Mallia-Magri. By mutual agreement, Mr John Magri was directed to convey Print The Cheque to Geelong this evening for an examination by the on-course Veterinarian in accordance with GAR 23 (3). At Bendigo today, Mrs Mallia Magri provided Stewards with details of x-rays and veterinary recommendations from the kennel's Veterinary Surgeon. The Stewards provided Mrs Mallia-Magri with an outline of our general concern with singular kennels nominating several greyhounds (in particular for staying events) and then withdrawing one or some of them prior to racing. The matter was adjourned.

Supplementary Advice: GRV betting analysts supplied Stewards with wagering information on this race and the wrist injury as reported was confirmed by the OTV at Geelong this evening. The Stewards are now satisfied with the machinations and authenticity of this scratching and unless further evidence is forthcoming, the matter is considered finalised. Print The Cheque has incurred a 10 day stand-down as a result of the scratching, commencing today.

Blue Espearance and Barroom Council were slow to begin.

Extreme Justice and Quest For Glory collided approaching the third turn and again approaching the home turn.

A sample was taken from Are You, winner of the event.
