Polo Pete was a late scratching at 12:35PM on the advice of the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon due to a laceration and split webbing on the left hind foot. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards inquired into an incident which occurred at the kennel block entrance gate prior to the running of this event.  After taking evidence from Sandown GRC Parade Steward - Mr S Cowling, and licensed Trainer, Mr C Webb, Stewards took no action in the matter.

Leopardstown and Moment To Rumba collided on the first turn. Straitline Willy, Cashino and Lady Bullseye collided approaching the second turn, checking Cashino. Cashino and Leopardstown collided on the third turn. Shae's Intention and Cashino collided approaching the fourth turn. Woodleigh Blue, Shae's Intention and Cashino collided on the fourth turn, checking Cashino. Moment To Rumba checked off Lady Bullseye on the fourth turn. Miss Sweet Pea and Moment To Rumba collided in the home straight.

Lady Emerald was quick to begin. Han Solo, George's Fever and Water Pistol were slow to begin.

Vivian Shiraz and Beckham collided soon after the start. Beckham and George's Fever collided soon after the start. Rapanui Surprise and Han Solo collided approaching the first turn. Lady Emerald and Vivian Shiraz collided on the first turn.

Marvellous Midge was quick to begin.

Zoobie checked off Fast Izzi soon after the start. Spazzy Blue and Fast Izzi collided approaching the first turn. Zipping Quinsee checked off Spazzy Blue approaching the first turn. Zoobie and Chum's Special collided on the third turn, severely checking both greyhounds. Nimble Foot checked off Fast Izzi approaching the winning post.

Chum's Special was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to the left gracilis (back) and deltoid muscles, and an abrasion over the right stifle. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
