Steward's Report
Stewards spoke to Ms Carolyn Cook, the trainer of Master Mordecai regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Master Mordecai last raced on 4th Janurary, 2018 and is retruning to racing following a virus.
A pre-race sample was taken from Hyundai Hawk.
Due to a track light being changed on the first turn, this race was rescheduled to start at 9:06pm.
Hyundai Hawk was quick to begin.
Riverina Miss crossed to the rails on the first turn, checking Woodleigh Blaze and Wicked Hillary. Master Mordecai and Riverina Miss collided approaching the home turn. Hyundai Hawk eased and failed to pursue the lure on the home turn. Riccarton checked off Riverina Miss entering the home straight; Riccarton stumbled as a result.
Hyundai Hawk was vetted and re-vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right triangle muscle. A 7 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mrs Margaret Thomas, the trainer of the greyhound Hyundai Hawk regarding the greyhounds racing manners on the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Hyundai Hawk with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mrs Thomas pleaded not guilty to the charge, Hyundai Hawk was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 12 months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(c), before any future nomination will be accepted
