Steward's Report

This meeting was deemed ‘hot weather affected’, prior to the running of this event as the outside temperature was 26.8 degrees Stewards dispensed with the 'hot weather' policy.

Riveting was very slow to begin (3L).  Blue Gum Hill, Rumble Drive and Nangar Bear collided soon after the start, checking Rumble Drive.  Trouper and Blue Gum Hill collided approaching the first turn.  Zudactyl Monelli and Rumble Drive collided on the first turn, checking Zudactyl Monelli.  Trouper and Blue Gum Hill collided on the first turn.  Rumble Drive, El Grand Knocka and Nangar Bear collided on the first turn, checking Nangar Bear.  Trouper and Nangar Bear collided on the home turn.  Nangar Bear eased and collided with El Grand Knocka in the home straight.  El Grand Knocka and Nangar Bear collided several times in the home straight and approaching the winning post.

Stewards spoke to Mr Tony Rasmussen, the handler of the greyhound Nangar Bear, regarding the greyhounds racing manners in the home straight.  Nangar Bear was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right foreleg monkey muscle injury, a seven day stand down period was imposed.  Acting under GAR 69(B)(1), the Stewards charged Nangar Bear with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment (by reason of injury).  Mr Rasmussen pleaded guilty to the charge, Nangar Bear was found guilty and stewards directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) pursuant to GAR 69(B)(1)(a),  before any future nomination will be accepted.
