Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Allen Gerwin.
Merc was slow to begin. Vis Vitae and Our Flying Laura collided soon after the start checking Our Flying Laura. Allen Gerwen and Little Toby collided on the first turn checking Little Toby. Little Toby and Idabelle Bale collided in the back straight checking Idabelle Bale. Merc checked off Our Flying Laura approaching the third turn. Mahi Indian and Ikon Parker collided approaching the home turn and again on the home turn checking Ikon Parker.
Ikon Parker was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its right back muscle. A 5 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. G. Couldridge, trainer of Ikon Parker, regarding the performance of the greyhound, which tired near the home turn. Mr Couldridge advised that in his opinion the greyhound was better suited to races over a shorter distance than today's event, and in future he would seek to nominate the greyhound for events over less than 525m.
