Stewards spoke to Mr Brendan Purcell, the kennel representative of Saint David after an impressive display this evening when breaking his Maiden status in 29.39. Several betting operators, who were being monitored in real time, revealed significant support for this result. Mr Purcell explained that Saint David had raced just once previously for another kennel and performed below expectations on that day. The Britton kennel received Saint David shortly thereafter but he trialled poorly and was consequently spelled. The connections hold a high opinion of Saint David’s general ability and after he trained up impressively leading into this race, supported him to win. The race panned out perfectly with plenty of room early, from a preferred wide draw and no interference to speak of. A urine sample was taken for analysis.
