Due to extensive traffic delays in crossing Melbourne from east to west and having several trainers contact the track to advise of these issues, kennelling was extended to close at 6.49pm.

Kaya's Pearl went up with the lids at box rise and was slow to begin.  Happy Cruising, One Smarty and Jello Allen collided soon after the start.  Winlock Ludacris and Blackpool Remi collided approaching the first turn.  Saintly Jack, Naughty Millie, Winlock Ludacris and Blackpool Remi collided on the first turn checking Kaya's Pearl, Blackpool Remi, One Smarty and Happy Cruising and causing Naughty Mile to fall.  Kaya's Pearl and Blackpool Remi raced wide in the home straight.

Naughty Millie was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained injuries to it's neck and left monkey muscle.  A 7 day stand down period was imposed.

Kouta And Cream and Slipperette were quick to begin.  Dyna Gabba and Azure Dragon were slow to begin.  Slipperette, Dyna Gabba and Racey Rose collided on the first turn checking Slipperette and Apropos and severely checking Dyna Gabba.  Slipperette and Crackerjack Tim raced wide entering the home straight.

Due to harness racing being conducted on the adjacent track, the greyhounds did not parade pre-race for this event, nor for the remainder of the night.

Boomer Blitz, Destini Agitator and Due Fratteli collided soon after the start checking Boomer Blitz and Destini Agitator.  Veil Successor checked off Eau Rogue approaching the first turn.  Destini Radar, Blackpool Doc, Perrie Lulu and Due Fratteli collided on the first turn checking Perrie Lulu and Boomer Blitz and severely checking Veil Successor which stumbled as a result.  Perrie Lulu checked off Destini Agitator approaching the home turn.  Blackpool Doc galloped on the heels of Perrie Lulu approaching the home turn checking both greyhounds.

Veil Successor was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Saltbush Bill, Italian Plastic and Mepunga Zeus collided soon after the start checking Saltbush Bill and Italian Plastic.  I'm All One, Hayley's Style, Dyna Diedre and Dyna Francine collided soon after the start checking I'm All One and Hayley's Style.  Mepunga Zeus crossed to the rail approaching the first turn checking I'm All One and Italian Plastic.  Myrrdon and I'm All One collided on the first turn.  I'm All One and Dyna Francine collided approaching the home turn.  Myrrdon and Hayley's Style collided approaching the winning post.

Succession Plan and Mepunga Prue were quick to begin.  Jet Blaster was slow to begin.  Ready And Armed, Spudtacular and Rollin' With It collided soon after the start.  Jet Blaster and Bageera collided on the first turn.  Jet Blaster galloped on the heels of Succession Plan on the first turn checking Jet Blaster.  Jet Blaster and Bageera collided on the first turn.  Rollin' With It and Bageera collided on the first turn.  Ready And Armed and Dava Supreme collided on the first turn.  Bageera galloped on the heels of Jet Blaster on the first turn.  Bageera checked off the heels of Jet Blaster approaching the home turn.  Succession Plan checked off Spudtacular on the home turn.

Hit The Highway and Cibulkova collided soon after the start checking Hit The Highway.  Fernando Express, Alpha Themis, Cibulkova and Dyna Oscar collided soon after the start checking Cibulkova and Alpha Themis.  Dyna Oscar and Fleur Delacour collided approaching the first turn checking Dyna Oscar.  Cibulkova, Alpha Themis and Hit The Highway collided on the first turn checking Hit The Highway and Alpha Themis.  Dyna Oscar checked off Fernando Express approaching the first turn.

Showtime Mystery was quick to begin.  Landmark and Igor Karkaroff were slow to begin.  Galester Hook checked off Mystery Ride soon after the start.  Landmark faltered approaching the first turn and tailed off as a result.  Oaklands and Let's Run collided on the first turn.  Igor Karkaroff checked off Galester Hook on the first turn.  Oaklands and Let's Run collided approaching the home turn.  Crackerjack Choc raced wide on the home turn.

Landmark was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to its left back muscle.  A 28 day stand down period was imposed.  The connections of Landmark advised Stewards that he will now be retired from racing and re-homed as a family pet.  

Paranoia checked off West On Xandi soon after the start.  Brazen Bull, West On Xandi, Fawn Pursuit and Barked Off collided soon after the start checking West On Xandi.  Lektra Blicavs and Barked Off collided approaching the first turn checking Barked Off and In Dee Genes.  Fawn Pursuit and Paranoia collided on the first turn.  Fawn Pursuit, Paranoia and West On Xandi collided on the home turn causing Paranoia to race wide.  Lektra Blicavs raced wide on the home turn.  In Dee Genes and Brazen Bull raced wide entering the home straight.

How Goodesy was slow to begin.  Slingshot Storm and Storm Search collided soon after the start.  Kiowa Kaema, Little Women, Slingshot Storm, Storm Search and How Goodesy collided approaching the first turn checking Kiowa Kaema, Slingshot Storm and Little Women.  Kiowa Kaema and Mahlo Blackhawk collided approaching the home turn.  Gomez Sanchez raced wide on the home turn checking Storm Search.

Stewards spoke to Mr. J. Collins, the representative of Zipping King regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Zipping King last raced on 19th September 2017.  Mr. Collins stated that the greyhound was returning to race after injuries to both its stopper ligaments.  Mr. Collins also declared a new weight of 37.2kgs for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2).  Zipping King last raced at 36.0kgs.

At the Trainers request, Hearing De Novo underwent a veterinary examination pre-race. The greyhound was passed fit to race.
