Supplementary Report. - Sandown.

An inquiry was opened and adjourned on the day into an incident that occurred following Race 2 at Sandown on Sunday, 25 February 2018 whereby several greyhounds collided with the lure apron/flap on the catching pen at the completion of Race 2.  The Sandown Club has provided Stewards with further information and advised that the staff member has been both sanctioned by way of being stood-down indefinitely from acting in this position and counselled as to the importance and possible consequences that these type of incidents can have to greyhounds and their connections.  Sandown have also put measures in place around the allocation of staff roles on race day that will further reduce the possibility of future incidents from occurring.  The opportunity was also taken to re-affirm to all staff the importance of race-day officials acting with utmost care, responsibility and professionalism on race days.

Track Curator Mr Brett Skurrie advised that the racing surface was medium harrowed on Monday, 26 February 2018.

Dyna Uni was quick to begin.  Menzali was slow to begin.  Menzali checked off the heels of Mepunga Zeus soon after the start.  Like A Rocket and Especial Shiraz collided on the first turn.  Dyna Uni shifted out and collided with Slingshot Blitz on the first turn.  Like A Rocket and Mepunga Zeus collided on the first turn, checking Especial Shiraz.  Menzali and No Excuse collided on the first turn.  Menzali checked off the heels of Mepunga Zeus on the first turn and collided with No Excuse.  Dyna Uni and Slingshot Blitz collided on the second turn, checking Dyna Uni.  Dyna Uni and Like A Rocket collided on the second turn, checking Dyna Uni.  Menzali and No Excuse collided on the second turn.  Mepunga Zeus galloped on the heels of Dyna Uni on the second turn, checking both greyhounds.  Menzali and Mepunga Zeus collided on the second turn.  Dyna Uni checked off the heels of No Excuse on the third turn.  No Excuse checked off the heels of Menzali approaching the home turn and collided with Mepunga Zeus.  No Excuse shifted out and inconvenienced Mepunga Zeus on the home turn.  Dyna Uni faded over the concluding stages of the event.

Dyna Uni was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

So Amazing and Augustus Dagloop were quick to begin.  Broulee Miss, Give Me Wings and Yogi Mikado were slow to begin.  Give Me Wings crossed to the outside soon after the start.  Augustus Dagloop and Aston Bolt collided on the first turn.  Give Me Wings and Yogi Mikado collided on the first turn.  So Amazing and Cosmic Collinda collided on the third turn, checking Cosmic Collinda.  Give Me Wings and Aston Bolt collided approaching the home turn.  Broulee Miss and Aston Bolt collided on the home turn.

Pia and Doused In Mud were quick to begin.  Zipping Nitro and Myrniong Corner were slow to begin.  Werner Bale and Nunniong Plain collided soon after the start.  Starzsa Smiling, Pia, Doused In Mud and Our Delta Rose collided approaching the first turn.  Zipping Nitro and Myrniong Corner collided approaching the first turn.  Pia, Doused In Mud, Our Delta Rose, Werner Bale and Nunniong Plain collided on the first turn, checking Myrniong Corner and causing Werner Bale and Nunniong Plain to race wide.  Our Delta Rose checked off the heels of Doused In Mud on the first turn.  Pia checked off the heels of Nunniong Plain on the second turn and collided with Myrniong Corner.  Pia and Werner Bale collided several times on the third turn.

Faithful Hill and Outshined were quick to begin.  Mepunga Gal and Jeebus Bird were slow to begin.  Mepunga Laser and Outshined collided approaching the second turn.  Faithful Hill and Good Luck Mark collided on the second turn.  Mepunga Gal and Where Art Thou collided on the third turn.  Faithful Hill tired over the concluding stages of the event.

Shady Buck was quick to begin.  She's Gifted was slow to begin.  Okay Kirsty shifted out and collided with Little Big Shot soon after the start.  She's Gifted checked off the heels of Okay Kirsty soon after the start.  Shady Buck checked off Chief's Sidekick on the first turn.  Zipping Buck and Huge Allen collided on the first turn.  Chief's Sidekick galloped on the heels of Okay Kirsty on the second turn.  Bella's Ghost and Little Big Shot collided on the second turn.  Chief's Sidekick and She's Gifted collided heavily on the second turn.  Zipping Buck and Shady Buck collided on the third turn.  Shady Buck and Chief's Sidekick collided on the third turn.  Huge Allen checked off the heels of Chief's Sidekick and collided with She's Gifted on the third turn, checking She's Gifted.  She's Gifted and Little Big Shot collided approaching the home turn.

Shayna Powers was quick to begin.  Crackerjack Doug was slow to begin.  Nymphadora Tonks collided soon after the start.  Repelo Muggletum faltered and tailed off approaching the first turn.  Ocean View and No Passengers collided on the first turn.  Crackerjack Doug and Dyna Neitz collided several times on the first turn.  Crackerjack Doug checked off the heels of Ocean View on the home turn.  Crackerjack Doug checked off the heels of Ace Ventura on the home turn.

Repelo Muggletum was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained a right hindleg calf muscle injury, a 60 day stand down period was imposed.

Bonnie Beauty was quick to begin.  Dyna Chill was slow to begin.  Oshkosh Expert, Allen Lottery and Why That collided soon after the start.  Dyna Carnie checked off the heels of Poppy Pete on the first turn.  Dyna Carnie, Allen Lottery, Dyna Chill and Dyna Danna collided heavily on the first turn, checking Dyna Carnie.  Poppy Pete and Why That collided on the first turn and again on the second turn.  Dyna Danna checked off the heels of Why That approaching the home turn.

Dundee Calypso was quick to begin.  Verne Allen was slow to begin.  Verne Allen stumbled soon after the start.  Verne Allen galloped on the heels of Moneypenny on the first turn, checking Verne Allen, causing Moneypenny to stumble as a result and faltered shortly thereafter.  Moneypenny pulled up in the back straight and failed to finish the event.  Verne Allen faded over the concluding stages of the event.

Moneypenny was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained left and right hindleg back muscle injuries, a 90 day stand down period was imposed.

Baby Huey was quick to begin.  Dyna Oscar was slow to begin.  Oronsay and Waleonjon collided on the first turn.  Cibulkova and Lady Mikado collided approaching the second turn and again approaching the home turn.  Rebecca Bale and Oronsay collided on the home turn and in the home straight.
