Steward's Report
In accordance with the GRV Hot Weather Policy the Horsham Meeting for Tuesday, 27 February 2018 was marked as 'Hot Weather Affected', due to the forecasted temperature of 33.0 degrees. At the close of kennelling the outside temperature was 32.0 degrees and the kennel temperature was 19.6 degrees.
Track Curator, Mr R Hamilton, advised Stewards that the track was lightly harrowed on 21 February 2018.
An Out of Competition Sample was taken from Saintly Jack engaged in this event on 26 February 2018 pursuant to GAR 79A.
Stewards spoke to Mr Keith Lloyd, the trainer of Saintly Jack, after the greyhound was placed in the incorrect kennel and bay during the kennelling process. Mr Lloyd was issued with a warning and reminded when kennelling he ensures greyhounds are kennelled in accordance with kennel procedure.
Stewards spoke to kennel attendant, Mr David Hodgett, after the greyhound Saintly Jack was placed in the incorrect kennel during the kennelling process. Mr Hodgett was reminded of his responsibilities and asked to ensure that all greyhounds are correctly kennelled in future. This matter was referred to the Club Manager for further consideration.
Golden Swagger and Dancin' In were slow to begin. Moon Phase, Saintly Jack and Kraken Daisy collided on the first turn, checking Kraken Daisy which stumbled and raced wide as a result. Kraken Daisy clipped the heels of Dancin' In approaching the home turn, checking both greyhounds and causing both greyhounds to race wide as a result. Dancin' In crossed to the outside on the home turn and collided with Golden Swagger, checking both greyhounds.
Dancin' In was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.
