Steward's Report
A pre-race sample was taken from Weeona Raph.
Maximum Jan was quick to begin. Chinookan Blue and Yogi Mikado were slow to begin.
Maximum Jan crossed to the rail soon after the start, checking Blue Vegas, Weeona Raph and Kelly's Star, and severely checking Folding Green. Blue Vegas and Weeona Raph collided approaching the first turn, checking Blue Vegas. Maximum Jan checked off Manila Bala on the first turn. Chinookan Blue, Weeona Raph and Maximum Jan collided approaching the home turn, checking all three greyhounds; Weeona Raph stumbled as a result. Chinookan Blue marred Maximum Jan approaching the home turn, causing both greyhounds to race wide and lose considerable ground. Weeona Raph and Kelly's Star collided on the home turn.
Chinookan Blue was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained no apparent injury.
Stewards spoke to Mr Ian Dann, the trainer of the greyhound Chinookan Blue, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Chinookan Blue with marring. Mr Dann pleaded guilty to the charge; Chinookan Blue was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for three months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
