Steward's Report
It's A Date and Almani Jet were slow to begin. Sandtrack Sniper was very slow to begin (4 lengths). It's A Date, Almani Jet and Crossfire Icon collided soon after the start. It's A Date and Almani Jet collided on the first turn. It's A Date and Eye Owe You collided approaching the home turn checking Eye Owe You and Crossfire Icon. Miriam's Wish eased on the home turn and subsequently pulled up. On The Runway and Dream Gem collided several times in the home straight.
On The Runway was vetted following the event. It was reported that there was no apparent injury found. After viewing the head on footage and taking into consideration the interference the greyhound sustained in the home straight Stewards took no further action.
Miriam's Wish was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a left quadriceps muscle injury and a left and right pencil muscle injury, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr. L. Whelan, the representative of the greyhound Miriam's Wish regarding the greyhound's racing manners on the home turn. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Miriam's Wish with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr. Whelan pleaded guilty to the charge, Miriam's Wish was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 3 months (all tracks) and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(b), before any future nomination will be accepted.
