Steward's Report

Mr. P. Desmond, representative of Nukstar, declared a new weight of 33.9kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Nukstar last raced at 35.5kg.

Ms. R. Sprague, representative of Nick, declared a new weight of 30.2kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Nick last raced at 32.0kg.

Cool Number went up with the lids at box rise.  Hot Devil, Nukstar and Cool Number collided soon after the start and again approaching the first turn, checking Nukstar.  Avalon Sisco crossed to the rail approaching the first turn, checking Boston Light and Calvin Candie.  Cool Number crossed to the rail on the first turn, checking Kintamani, Valvin Candie, Boston Light, Nick and Hot Devil.  Nukstar checked off Boston Light entering the home straight.  Hot Devil and Kintamani raced wide in the home straight.  Boston LIght and Nukstar collided several times in the home straight.

A sample was taken from Avalon Sisco - the winner of the event.

Nick was vetted following the event and after being re-vetted following race 11, it was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

Stewards spoke to M Lowe, the trainer of the greyhound Nick.  Stewards deemed the performance of Nick unsatisfactory in this event and acting in accordance with GAR 71, Stewards directed that Nick must perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks) before any future nomination will be accepted.

Nukstar was vetted following the event, and after being re-vetted following race 5, it was reported that the greyhound sustained an injured right metacarpal and spike wounds to the right hind leg, a 21 day stand down period was imposed.
