Steward's Report
Mahlo Nacho and Leeroy Rox were slow to begin.
Mahlo Nacho checked off Leeroy Rox soon after the start. Dashing Dream checked off Monoak approaching the first turn. Cool Al checked off Classy Diva on the first turn, checking Chaddy Whacker and Mahlo Nacho, in turn severely checking Cool Al and Leeroy Rox. Leeroy Rox veered out and marred Cool Al approaching the winning post.
Leeroy Rox was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained a carpal sprain to the right wrist and an injury to the left gracilis (back) muscle. A ten-day stand down period was imposed.
Stewards spoke to Mr John Rennie, the trainer of the greyhound Leeroy Rox, regarding the greyhound’s racing manners approaching the winning post. Acting under GAR 69(1) stewards charged Leeroy Rox with marring. Mr Rennie pleaded guilty to the charge, Leeroy Rox was found guilty and suspended for 28 days at Ballarat and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(2)(a) before any future nomination will be accepted.
