A pre-race sample was taken from Mantra Mick upon arrival at the course, prior to kennelling
Stewards spoke to Mr.J. Donaldson, the trainer of Mantra Mick regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Mantra Mick last raced on 22nd June 2017. Mr. Donaldson stated that the greyhound was returning from a spell.
A pre-race sample was taken from Become The Fuse.
Speed Alert and Clover Lad were slow to begin.
Zipping Oliver, Adala Boy and Mantra Mick collided soon after the start. Clover Lad and All Inn Houston collided approaching the first turn. Clover Lad, All Inn Houston and Become The Fuse collided on the first turn checking Become The Fuse causing Speed Alert and Become The Fuse to fall. Mantra Mick and Stylish Chief collided on the first turn.
Speed Alert was vetted following the event. It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right metacarpal. A stand down period of 90 days was imposed.
