Stylish Billy was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained an injury to the right tendon, a 14 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards spoke to Mr S. Van Taarling, Representative of the greyhound, Stylish Billy.  Acting under GAR 69(A)(1), Stewards charged Stylish Billy with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment.  Mr Van Taarling pleaded guilty to the charge, Stylish Billy was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 28 days at Shepparton and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial, All Tracks, pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.

Stewards spoke to Mr M.Fothergill, the handler of Who Told Lindylu regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Who Told Lindylu last raced on 10 May, 2017. Mr Fothergill stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a season. 

Stewards spoke to Mr N.Walsh, the trainer of Fiery Universe regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races. Fiery Universe last raced on 23 May, 2017. Mr Walsh stated that the greyhound was returning to racing after a fractured right metartarsal. Mr Walsh declared a new weight of 32.5kg for the greyhound in accordance with GAR 39(2). Fiery Universe last raced at 30.9kg.

Daintree Teacake was slow to begin.  Man Down and Senni Richard collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn.
