Track Curator, Mr R Hamilton, advised Stewards that the track was lightly harrowed on 9 August 2017.

The start of this race was delayed by approximately two minutes to allow the Starter to clear excess water from one of the starting boxes.

Get The Gaff and Winter's Glow were slow to begin.  Get The Gaff and Winter's Glow colllided soon after the start, checking Get The Gaff.  Starbright Toby checked off Nellie Shan on the first turn.  Nellie Shan and Kalani Sheldon collided on the first turn, checking Nellie Shan.  Starbright Toby raced wide on the home turn.  Get The Gaff and Winter's Glow collided on the home turn, in the home straight and again approaching the winning post.  Evil Pedro galloped on Hagrid Grange in the home straight, checking both greyhounds.  Hagrid Grange checked off Starbright Toby in the home straight.

Clowning Zems was slow to begin.  Hawk Forever and Hail A Cab collided soon after the start, checking Hawk Forever.  Starbright Vic and Crymelon Hewie collided on the first turn, checking Crymelon Hewie.  Clowning Zems checked off Elgrande Rebel approaching the home turn.  Clowning Zems and Elgrande Rebel collided in the home straight.  Hawk Forever raced wide in the home straight.

Samples were taken from the placegetters – Starbright Vic (1st) and Zephyric (2nd).

Handsome Cosmo, Reignlee, Crash Bandicoot and Sachi collided on the first turn, checking all greyhounds.  Sachi checked off Ikon Parker approaching the home turn.  Kirabilli Dawson and Ikon Parker collided approaching the home turn.  Sachi checked off Ikon Parker on the home turn, checking Bomber Marlow.  Reignlee and Sachi collided entering the home straight and again in the home straight.  

A sample was taken from Crash Bandicoot - the winner of the event.

Bomber Marlow was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

A pre-race sample was taken from Canya Touche.

Canya Touche was quick to begin.  Infinite Senor, Orchard Road and Our Turbo Girl collided soon after the start, checking Orchard Road.  All Inn Layla and Our Turbo Girl collided on the first turn, checking All Inn Layla, Our Turbo Girl and Iceni Outlaw.  Iceni Outlaw checked off Oz Ten Tatious on the home turn.  

A sample was taken from Pop Do It - second placegetter in the event.

Steel Fury was quick to begin.  Kazmic's Spirit was slow to begin.  Swift Trent and Pants On Fire collided soon after the start.  Fast Freddie checked off Steel Fury soon after the start.  Swift Trent checked off Pants On Fire on the first turn.  Kazmic's Spirit and Bundarra Magic collided approaching the home turn.

Kazmic's Spirit was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained grazing at medial canthus of right eye.  No stand down period was imposed.

Fantastic Bear was slow to begin.  Lani Bale and Troy Boyce collided soon after the start, checking Troy Boyce.  Tiggerlong Nosey and Lani Bale collided approaching the first turn.  Jaycee Plumb checked off Tiggerlong Nosey on the first turn.  Tiggerlong Nosey and Lani Bale collided on the first turn, checking Lani Bale and Jazzy Bale.  Troy Boyce and Fantastic Bear collided on the home turn.

Cullquin Frank and Cullquin Nikki collided soon after the start, checking Cullquin Nikki.  Cullquin Frank, Etched In Black and Sutre Sizzler collided approaching the first turn, checking Etched In Black and Sutre Sizzler.  Cullquin Frank and Etched In Black collided approaching the first turn, checking Etched In Black.  Cullquin Frank and Starbright Tara collided on the first turn.  Stevron Autos and Cullquin Nikki collided on the first turn, checking both greyhounds.  Cullquin Frank and Starbright Tara collided approaching the home turn, checking Starbright Tara.  Stevron Autos and Etched In Black collided entering the home straight, checking Etched In Black and Cullquin Nikki.  Starbright Tara checked off All Inn Amy in the home straight.

Kalani Klare was a late scratching at 11.36 am due to illness (GAR 23).  A 10 day stand down period was imposed.  Stewards will require a veterinary certificate before any future nomination will be accepted. 

A pre-race sample was taken from Destini Baby.

Zipping Inglis was quick to begin.  Nangar Rock, Nangar Range and Glitterbug collided approaching the first turn, checking Nangar Range and Nangar Rock.

Destini Baby was vetted following the event.  It was reported that there was no apparent injury found.

A pre-race sample was taken from Red Tone.

Tegz A Riddler was quick to begin.  Lektra Oscar and Collis Princess collided approaching the first turn and again on the first turn, checking both greyhounds.

Stewards spoke to Mr A Richardson, the trainer of Drop A Clanger, regarding the length of time the greyhound has had between races.  Drop A Clanger last raced on 27 April 2017.  Mr A Richardson stated that the greyhound was resuming to racing following a split webbing to the right hindleg.

Right Off Spot was slow to begin.  Mahjong Princess, Autocrat and Shades Of Sassy collided soon after the start, checking Autocrat and Shades Of Sassy.  Drop A Clanger and Rapana collided on the first turn, checking Rapana.  Drop A Clanger and Mahjong Princess collided on the first turn, checking Drop A Clanger and Shades Of Sassy.  Shades Of Sassy and Iceni Menace collided approaching the home turn, checking Iceni Menace.

Prior to the All Clear given Stewards viewed the lateral vision and head-on vision of this race regarding wildlife on the track in the home straight.  After viewing the respective footage it was the opinion of Stewards that the chances of Iceni Menace and Rapana were not materially affected and subsequently both greyhounds were deemed starters. The  All Clear was then given on the Judge's numbers.

Rapana was vetted following the event.  It was reported that the greyhound sustained left and right hindleg fibula and right hindleg back muscle injuries, a seven day stand down period was imposed.

Full Of Boloney and Pomp Fiction collided soon after the start.  Blackhawk Parker and Cloona Express collided approaching the first turn.  Kalara checked off Podium Fantasy on the first turn.  Midnite Starling checked off Cloona Express approaching the home turn.  Kalara checked off Blackhawk Parker approaching the home turn, checking Full Of Boloney.  Podium Fantasy checked off Blackhawk Parker on the home turn, checking Kalara.  Podium Fantasy raced wide in the home straight.

Beyond The Vally and Deadset Jet were slow to begin.  Show Bag Carter and All Inn Tara collided soon after the start.  Harvey Mills, Skibbo, Show Bag Carter and All Inn Tara collided approaching the first turn, checking Skibbo and Show Bag Carter.  Tiggerlong Boo crossed to the rail on the first turn.  Clavash checked off Harvey Mills on the first turn, checking Show Bag Carter.  Harvey Mills checked off All Inn Tara on the first turn.  Clavash and Beyond The Vally collided approaching the winning post.
