Steward's Report

Big Butterbean was a late scratching at 10:57AM due to the greyhound being on season (GAR 24). A 28-day stand down period was imposed.

Stewards noted prior to this event that kennel bay three (3) was incorrectly sealed.

He's A Freebie was quick to begin. Tail Inspector was slow to begin.

Trademark Rocky and Beljay Lilac collided approaching the first turn. Atigrado brushed the running rail on the first turn and lost ground. Blue Fortitude raced wide approaching the home turn. Topaz Warrior eased entering the home straight and collided several times with He's A Freebie in the home straight, checking both greyhounds.

Blue Fortitude was vetted following the event. It was reported the greyhound sustained no apparent injury. No stand down period was imposed.

Topaz Warrior was vetted following the event and reported to have no apparent injury; trainer Mr Kevin Quinn declined for the greyhound to be revetted. Stewards spoke to Mr Quinn, the trainer of the greyhound Topaz Warrior, regarding the greyhound's racing manners entering the home straight. Acting under GAR 69(A)(1) stewards charged Topaz Warrior with failing to pursue the lure with due commitment. Mr Quinn pleaded guilty to the charge, Topaz Warrior was found guilty and suspended the greyhound for 28 days at Warragul and it was directed that the greyhound perform a Satisfactory Trial (all tracks), pursuant to GAR 69(A)(2)(a), before any future nomination will be accepted.
